Victoria Duende was born in Sevilla in the neighborhood
of the Macarena. She began to study dance at the age
of 3 under the instruction of Matilde Coral, “El
Mimbre” and others. She debuted professionally
at 15 years old and at 17 became part of Mario Maya’s
company. Until she was 19, she worked in important Sevilla
tablaos, when she moved to Madrid and began to dance
in tablaos there.
She has danced as a soloist with the companies of Carmen
Cortés, Güito, Canales, Rafael Aguilar.
At the age of only 20, she danced in the Gala of the
Stars of Dance in the Palace Royal Garden for the King
and Queen of Spain, along with Güito, and Merche
Esmeralda. She danced the principal role in Los flamencos
somos asi traveling all over the world with the best
dancers.
In 1992, she joined the Blanca del Rey Company performing
Flamenco Passion and Rebirth. She participated in the
University Complutense of Madrid and Isabel of Spain
Residence Hall’s 50 Years of Flamenco History
along with Meneses, Manolete, and Pilar López.
She has participated on numerous occasions in television
programs, among which was the series Miguel Hernández,
the Poet. She was also in the cast for two movies Camarón
of the Island and Lola Flores.
On July 18, 2001, Duende was presented to the press
accompanied by María Jiménez and Marian
Conde. Currently, she is working as a flamenco teacher
and has her own flamenco group.
